Kindergarten

In the foreground, there are six wooden "16 animals" by Enzo Mari. In the background, there is a miniature of the Gufram "Bocca" sofa.

We have three proposals for preschools: one dedicated to exploring design objects and the stories behind them, another to discovering animal-shaped sculptures and their characteristics, and the third to analysing portraits. Each proposal includes a workshop where children can create their own personal ceramic artwork.
You’ll find all the information about bookings and costs at the bottom of the page.

Things tell stories

Objects are silent and still, but they do have stories to tell. In order to discover them, girls and boys have to touch and listen to them. A small “survey form” will help them to explore the object and understand all its facets. In the workshop, they will use clay and perceive how objects can leave ‘footprints’ and how they convey a presence, a transit. The children will make a composition by pressing objects into raw-clay tiles. These delightful artefacts can be fired at no extra cost and become terracotta pictures.

Our Goals:

  • make design accessible
  • develop and enhance the senses of touch, sight and hearing
  • stimulate creative learning
  • enhance the processes of perception and communication optimize eye / hand coordination
  • encourage the expression of emotional states through modelling

Activity length: 2 hours.

An imaginary bestiary

Animals live in the museum too! With the aid of a tactile book, the class will discover all the animal sculptures. Observation and touch are essential for understanding what a sculpture is and what its tactile characteristics are. Is it hard or soft? Rough or smooth? Which animal is it? What is your favourite animal?

After the clay-modelling workshop, we will encourage the children to talk about their experiences of the event. Their creations will be fired at no extra cost and can be collected later.

Our Goals:

  • make art accessible
  • enable amazement
  • develop and enhance the sense of touch
  • stimulate the processes of perception and communication
  • optimize eye / hand coordination
  • encourage the expression of emotional states through modelling

Activity length: 2 hours.

Let’s Make a Portrait!

This learning activity begins with a fundamental question: what is a portrait?
In order to represent ourselves, we must understand how we are made. How do we do this?
By observing ourselves and touching our faces, discovering the position of our eyes, nose and mouth.
A walk among the Museum’s sculptures will allow us to recognize other faces and emotions and discover the characteristics of portraits.
In the workshop, each child will model a portrait in clay, using various objects to make imprints and enrich the faces.
The creations will be fired and can be collected in the days following the visit.
Our Goals:

  • Introduce children to art
  • Encourage a sense of wonder and beauty
  • Enhance tactile perception
  • Discover the language and structure of the face
  • Improve eye-hand coordination
  • Learn and experiment with clay-modelling techniques

Activity length: 2 hours.
