In the Spring issue, our ever-expanding Aisthesis magazine reports on projects that have been accomplished: an entirely new section for the Museo Omero and a new form of poetry.
In his article, the president of the Museum, Aldo Grassini, explains the motivation underpinning the new Design Section, not merely as an acquisition, but as a new space. After 28 years, the Museum has taken an almost obligatory step forward, expanding its scope from the realm of art as conventionally understood, to that of design.
Next, Fabio Fornasari, the exhibition curator, presents a comprehensive, detailed tour of the exhibits, where beauty, usefulness, daily life and socialization encounter the genius of the world of industry.
Thirty-two iconic objects (to listen to, handle and touch) have been selected from projects which have won, or been mentioned in, the Compasso d’Oro Industrial Design Awards, and are displayed in five themed groups: travel, living, cooking, work, play. From the Bialetti Moka to the Cubo Radio, from the Piaggio Vespa to the Olivetti Valentine.
Finally, Andrea Sòcrati meets two exceptional artist-poets, Emilio Isgrò and Lamberto Pignotti, who wished to share and promote the birth of “tactile poetry”. “The Tree” is a poem consisting of fourteen “picture-verses”. Each is made of a different material and bears the embossed image of a tree, created using raised dots – the basic units of the Braille writing system. It is for your hands to discover the shape of the tree and enjoy the diverse tactile sensations offered by the various materials. They also provide aural sensations through the rustling sounds produced by tactile exploration.
An exciting, aesthetic experience for everyone.
