Events dedicated to Accessibility and Inclusion

13, 14 and 15 November 2024.

Four events focusing on accessibility, from initiatives for editorial inclusion and cognitive barrier removal to new tactile museum experiences and tactile books.

Thursday, 14 November: Milano Book City

Within the framework of Milano Book City, the book Communicative Accessibility: Designing Content for All will be presented. This work, published by Rai Libri in collaboration with Rai Public Utility and the Politecnico di Milano, will be discussed by Enrico Motta (RAI CPTV Milan Manager) and the book's editors, Maria Chiara Andriello (Rai Public Utility/Accessibility) and Dina Riccò (Politecnico di Milano).
Alessia Varricchio from the Communications Department of the Omero Museum, one of the contributing authors, will also attend and discuss the challenges and opportunities of accessibility in communication.

Friday, 15 November: Classense Library in Ravenna and Musas Museum in Santarcangelo di Romagna

The Classense Library in Ravenna will host Reading Frees Everyone: Accessibility Projects and Actions for a More Inclusive Library, focusing on initiatives carried out under the PNRR project "Removal of Cognitive and Sensory Barriers."
During the study day, Andrea Sòcrati, Head of Special Projects and Accessibility Officer at the Omero Museum, will give a talk entitled Accessibility and Inclusion Experiences to Convey Art and the Wealth of Diversity. This unique opportunity will explore how museums and libraries can become increasingly inclusive spaces.

Our commitment to accessible projects continues at the Musas, the Historical Archaeological Museum in Santarcangelo di Romagna, with a day dedicated to accessibility and inclusion in museums, titled Caring for the Public: Inclusion Experiences in Museums.

The afternoon will conclude with the unveiling of the tactile replica of the Musas Polyptych, created by the Omero Museum's Tiflological Department. Speakers will include Gabriella Cetorelli (MIC - Directorate-General for European and International Affairs - UNESCO Service), Aldo Grassini, and Massimiliano Trubbiani from the Omero Museum, as well as Nadia Falasconi and Giuseppe Tomasello, creators of the tactile replica of the Polyptych. This will be a moment of sharing dedicated to making art accessible through touch, creating a barrier-free museum experience.

Workshop on Tactile Books

On Wednesday, 13 and Thursday, 14 November, we will also be training the staff of Lega del Filo d'Oro on the theme Building a Tactile Book. This workshop brings together various expertise from the Museum: from text and binding to construction, layout, and tactile image definition.
