Mannucci Exhibition. Fire and Genesis

September 19, 2026 – January 10, 2027. "Zona Conce" Museum Complex, Fabriano. Featuring two works on loan from the Museo Omero and an inclusive tour with audio descriptions.

The exhibition Mannucci. Fire and Genesis. Informal Artists in Dialogue celebrates Edgardo Mannucci (Fabriano, 1904 – Arcevia, 1986), a leading figure in 20th-century Italian sculpture, on the 40th anniversary of his passing.

Promoted by the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Fabriano e Cupramontana – Fondazione Carifac, the exhibition is curated by Fabio Marcelli, Professor of Modern Art History at the University of Perugia.

This project renews the bond between Mannucci and his homeland, 20 years after the 2005 exhibition Mannucci and the 20th Century: The Atomic and Cosmic Imagery, which was championed by Fondazione Carifac thanks to Enrico Crispolti. The new exhibition also serves as a tribute to the memory of the art historian, who contributed significantly to studying and highlighting numerous artists connected to Fabriano and its region.

From fire to form

The exhibition traces Edgardo Mannucci's entire artistic journey: from his early training in Rome in the immediate post-WWI era to his post-Cubist phase in the late 1940s, leading up to his rise as a key figure in Italian and international Informal sculpture.

The title Fire and Genesis evokes a central element of his vision: fire as an ancestral, creative, and generating force through which form comes to life in space.

Throughout the layout, Mannucci’s works enter into a dialogue with paintings, drawings, and sculptures by major 20th-century and contemporary artists, including Alberto Burri, Corrado Cagli, Mario Ceroli, Pietro Consagra, Piero Dorazio, Renato Guttuso, Leoncillo Leonardi, Gino Marotta, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Enrico Prampolini, Daniel Spoerri, Valeriano Trubbiani, Giulio Turcato, Giuseppe Uncini, and Emilio Vedova.

The Museo Tattile Statale Omero contributes to the exhibition by loaning two pieces from its permanent collection: Edgardo Mannucci's "Idea n. 21" (1974) and Arnaldo Pomodoro's Rotante massimo (1968).

Accessibility

Serving as the technical partner for accessibility, the Museo Omero collaborated with the Fondazione Carifac to design an audio-tactile sensory tour tailored for visitors with visual impairments.

A selection of artworks can be explored through touch and further discovered via audio descriptions accessible using audio pens, encouraging an independent visit.

The tour also includes adapted content and Braille captions.
