Media Policy

This Media Policy outlines the content published by the Museo Tattile Statale Omero across its official digital platforms—including its website and social media networks—as well as the code of conduct users are expected to follow.

The website and social media channels are managed by the Museum’s Communication and Promotion Department, which uses them as key tools to inform the public about the institution’s mission, projects, partnerships, and activities. Through these channels, the Department shares updates on public services, promotes the cultural heritage in its care, and highlights educational and cultural initiatives such as exhibitions, training courses, guided tours, workshops, consulting services, and typhlological educational resources.

Special attention is paid to accessibility and inclusion, aligning both the technical framework and the content of communications with the Museum’s core mission.

All intellectual property rights regarding the content (text, photographs, videos, and other multimedia materials) belong to the Museo Tattile Statale Omero. Users are welcome to share, comment on, and engage with this content in accordance with the terms of service of each social platform, provided that @museoomero is explicitly tagged.

Any other form of use or reproduction of website and social media content is strictly prohibited without prior written authorization from the Museo Omero.

The Communication and Promotion Department also manages the Museum’s Google profile (updating directions, operating hours, text, posts, and imagery) and oversees the Museum’s presence on Wikipedia as well as institutional channels, including the Musei Italiani app and the websites of the Ministry of Culture, the Marche Region, the Municipality of Ancona, and other platforms.

The Museo Omero utilizes social media not only to distribute information and in-depth content, but also to build an active, participatory relationship with the community by encouraging open dialogue, listening, and debate.

Social media channels do not serve as instruments for official administrative actions, nor do they replace primary communication methods such as the official website, formal postal/email communications, or direct contact with relevant offices.

Formal administrative inquiries must be directed through official channels.

Netiquette and conduct rules

The social media pages of the Museo Omero are public spaces dedicated to open discussion based on mutual respect, fairness, and responsibility. Users are asked to contribute constructively and refrain from behavior or language that degrades the conversation.

The following types of content are strictly prohibited:

  • Offensive, vulgar, threatening, or inciting language or imagery;
  • Discriminatory remarks based on gender, age, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, personal views, or disability;
  • Defamatory statements or material harmful to the reputation of individuals or institutions;
  • Demonstrably false, misleading, or unverified information;
  • Political, partisan, promotional, or ideological propaganda;
  • Unsolicited commercial messages, advertising, or spam;
  • Material that infringes on privacy regulations or copyright laws.

Publishing personal data—whether your own or someone else’s—such as phone numbers, private email addresses, residential addresses, official identification documents, or other sensitive information, is strictly forbidden.

Adhering to these rules maintains a safe, accessible digital space aligned with the values of inclusion and respect upheld by the Museum.

Moderation and Interaction

User-generated content is moderated after publication (a posteriori).

The Museo Omero reserves the right to:

  • Remove comments or posts that violate this policy;
  • Hide or flag content that breaches platform terms;
  • restrict or block access for users who repeatedly violate these rules;
  • Report severe violations to relevant law enforcement authorities as required by law.

The Museo Omero aims to read messages and respond as quickly as possible within available staff hours.
