Inauguration 26th of November
Museo Tattile Statale Omero
from the 26th of November to the 14th of January

On Sunday the 26th of November at 11, the Museo Tattile Statale Omero will present "La Tavola Celeste" (The Heavenly Table), an interactive installation which reintreprets 400 years of studies and discoveries on space and time through a table set with kitchen utensils of every kind.
The objective is to recount and make the biggest astronomical discoveries more understandable through a fun and educational approach.

Inspired by the short story from Francesco Niccolini “Il Grande Orologiaio/The Great Clockmaker” and artistically linked to Joseph Cornell's boxes and Daniel Spoerri's tableaux, the long surface is studded with pans and covers, blenders and bottles, glasses and mashers. The worktable of a great chef who, with an armounious dance of tools, cooks time, lays the years creating dishes to serve to popular knowledge in a dimension in which “knowing” is also having “good taste”.

The Heavenly Table aims to awaken the spirit of the explorer rather than the spectator's; encouraging people to put themselves out there instead of keeping the distance typical of observation, offering a path based on the pleasure of surprise and wonder resulting from the apparent triviality of ordinary life.
It's a place for time to find refuge, like a traveler who decides to rest under the stars; it's an instrument to convince time to stop and have a talk with everyone around through familiar objects.
The Heavenly Table was realised by the Cultural Association “La luna al guinzaglio” in their creative workspace “Il Salone dei Rifiutati” and is co-produced by the Superintendence for the Historical, Artistic and Ethno-anthropological Heritage for the region Basilicata.
