"Culture is for everyone. Join in!"
The Museo Tattile Statale Omero is taking part again in the Week of Culture (9 to 17 April 2011) promoted by the Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali. This is now the13th year of an event which was created with the aim of encouraging a love for art through learning more about Italy’s immense artistic heritage and promoting new cultural experiences, especially among the younger generations, by means of widespread, capillary action over the whole country.
Our Museum proposes three important appointments during the week:
13 April 2011: Tactile visit to the "Derive" exhibition at the Mole Vanvitelliana, Ancona
This exhibition, curated by Nicoletta Frapiccini, features the work of three young artists from Ancona, Kane Caddoo, Gabriele Cesaretti and Marco Montenovi, who have explored the idea of drift, each using the artistic language which is most congenial and in the interpretation which was most fruitful. The Museo Omero is creating special aids for the occasion (legends and panels in Braille, relief versions of some works). On 13 April, Andrea Socrati will speak in the morning conference on "Educazione Museale e Arte contemporaneo. Metodi, strategie, criticità" (held at the Ridotto del Teatro delle Muse) and at 3.30 pm Massimiliano Trubbiani will coordinate the tactile visit to the "Derive" exhibition in the presence of the artists. The visit is free. Booking is compulsory (tel. 071 28 11 935 - info@museoomero.it).
14 and 15 April 2011: National Course - Museum accessibility and artistic and aesthetic education for visually handicapped people.
This is now the eighth time this course has been offered. It is for people who work in these sectors and for teachers. For further information click on the link at the foot of the page.
17 April 2011, Theatre "Lavoro? (Ma se) non vedo l'ora...": afternoon performance at 5 pm, evening performance at 9 pm.
By and with the Gruppo Teatrale dell'Unione Italiana Ciechi, Ancona branch. Directed by Antonio Lovascio. Actresses Giulia Pagoni, Stefania Terrè, Barbara Roefaro. After its successful debut last March, the show is being staged again in an afternoon(5 pm) and an evening (9 pm) performance, in the Museo Omero. Free from pious sentiment and rich in irony, the production presents three different journeys in the darkness of blindness, three women who find the strength to go ahead in spite of the difficulties, fears and general indifference. Three women and a common objective: overcome prejudice and live their lives to the full. Three stories that through imagination, memory, courage and strength tell us about: dreams, hopes, beauty and many, many possibilities.
The theatrical production is by Un Ponte tra Culture società Cooperativa in collaboration with the UIC - Ancona branch and the Museo Tattile Statale Omero. It is part of the "Memorie del lavoro" Festival, a project that won the Cohabitat 2010 competition run by the Provincia di Ancona.
