Stories of Waste and Reuse in Civilizations.
From 12 July to 27 October 2024. Inauguration on 11 July at 6:30 PM.
Archaeological Museum of Palazzo Pianetti, Jesi.
The Omero Museum is collaborating with the exhibition by lending artifacts from the traveling exhibition "The Culture of Plastic: Art Design Environment."
The Exhibition Pathway
The exhibition follows a dual track, combining heritage education with raising awareness about environmental protection. The exhibition begins with "Archeoplastica - Archeoplastics", a project launched in 2008 that led to the cataloging of plastic waste released by the sea, dating back to the period between the 1960s and the 1980s, which are viewed as artifacts of contemporary society.
From the materials used to the shape of the packaging to the product communication, each piece of waste tells the story of an era, more or less recent, but still in the past, which can provoke reflection on how everyday life becomes history for future generations.
This creates a parallel with the more classic artifacts of the archaeological museum, which will be juxtaposed with plastic artifacts based on aesthetic criteria or by considering the original function of the objects.
The exhibition will also offer a reflection on the conscious use of plastic. Through comparisons with works of art and plastic design objects, the focus will be on the aesthetic and functional properties of this material, which also presents a significant environmental problem concerning its disposal.
The Omero Museum is collaborating with the exhibition by lending artifacts from the traveling exhibition "The Culture of Plastic: Art Design Environment":

The exhibition can be visited from 12 July to 27 October 2024, with an entrance ticket that also includes access to the entire collection housed at the Archaeological Museum of Jesi and Vallesina at Palazzo Pianetti.
