Lucia Cappellazzi wins the Second Edition of the Premio Omero

The Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity (DGCC) of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Museo Tattile Statale Omero announce that Lucia Cappellazzi, with her work Questo è un orto! (This Is a Vegetable Garden!) (2026), is the winner of the second edition of the Premio Omero, dedicated to promoting multisensory and inclusive contemporary art.

After evaluating the three finalist works, the Jury selected Questo è un orto!, recognising an artistic practice that combines experimentation with sculptural forms, expressive spontaneity, and a profound human and emotional dimension.

A garden where every form finds its place

The installation emerges from the artistic practice of Lucia Cappellazzi, who creates the pots using only one arm. Through repeated gestures, adaptation, and experimentation, the artist creates a collective composition in which every element, even those that appear imperfect, finds its place and contributes to a shared landscape.

The pots are intentionally left empty, symbolically ready to receive seeds, plants, roots, and new possibilities for growth.

The garden thus becomes a metaphor for care, transformation, and diversity as a value.

Touch as a way of knowing

This experience engages the body and encourages reflection on the relationship between material, perception, and knowledge, fully reflecting the mission of the Museo Omero.

The jury's reasons for Its decision

The decision also aims to recognise and support an original artistic practice, offering new opportunities for visibility and recognition to an artist whose work has not yet received sufficient attention within the art world.

A new addition to the Museo Omero Collection

The winning work will become part of the permanent collection of the Museo Tattile Statale Omero, and the artist will receive a €20,000 prize, as established in the competition rules.
