Posted in Exhibitions on 25 June 2026
From June 24 to July 26 2026, Firenze Palace, Rome.
Two artworks from the Omero Museum are exhibited.
The Società Dante Alighieri and the Umberto Eco Foundation present the project "Umberto Eco and the name of things. Signs, reality and interpretation".
The events are taking place in Rome, at the Firenze Palace, in Piazza di Firenze Square, starting from the 23rd of June 2026.
The opening conference will be held on June 23 at 5:30 PM, followed by the vernissage of the exhibition. The exhibition will be open to the public from June 24 to July 26, with the following opening hours: monday - friday 10 am to 6 pm, saturdays and sundays from 5 pm to 9.30 pm.
The display features first-edition books, manuscripts, and typescripts with handwritten notes, alongside photographs, letters, drawings, and audiovisual materials sourced from major documentary archives. Divided into five sections, the exhibition offers a reflection on key aspects of Umberto Eco's work and intellectual journey.
Designed with inclusivity in mind, the exhibition layout features two models on loan from the Omero Museum:
- A scale model replicating the labyrinth-library of the fortress where the movie The Name of the Rose was set. Crafted in enameled wood by artist Niba (Michela Nibaldi), it was donated by the Oscar-winning production designer Dante Ferretti;
- A plaster copy of one of the gargoyles from the Monza Cathedral, originally created by the 14th-century architect Matteo da Campione.
